Markets firm; Tata Power up 8%, NTPC down 5%

The Sensex is now up 484 points at 14,275.

The NSE Nifty is up 125 points at 4,315.

Tata Power has zoomed 7.7% to Rs 1,124. Tata STeel and HDFC have soared 7% each to Rs 625 and Rs 2,259, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure has surged over 6% to Rs 964. HDFC Bank has rallied 5.3% to Rs 1,084.

Sterlite and ICICI Bank have moved up 4.8% each to Rs 621 and Rs 637, respectively.

Wipro has gained 4.5% at Rs 421. DLF, BHEL and SBI have added 4% each to Rs 492, Rs 1,658 and Rs 1,374, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has advanced nearly 4% to Rs 809. Ranbaxy and Reliance have added 3.5% each to Rs 492 and Rs 2,156, respectively.

 

NTPC has plunged nearly 5% to Rs 170, and ITC has shed 1.4% at Rs 187.

Out of 2,647 stocks traded so far, 1,808 have advanced, 752 have declined and 87 are unchanged.
