Potato remains weak on supply pressure

March, May contracts shed 0.37% and 0.08% on fresh arrivals from producing areas

Press Trust of India Mumbai

Potato prices fell by Rs 2.70 to Rs 730 per quintal in futures trade today on supplies pressure following fresh arrivals from producing regions against lower demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in March declined by Rs 2.70, or 0.37 per cent to Rs 730 per quintal in business turnover of 10 lots.

The May contract traded lower by 60 paise, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 720 per quintal in single lot.

Market analysts said supply pressure due to fresh arrivals from producing belts against low demand mainly kept potato futures remain weak.
