It was the tenth session of consecutive gains for key stock indices as market remains hopeful of positive poll outcome.
Both Sensex and Nifty regained lost ground in closing deals after trimming initial gains during the day. They earlier touched record intra-day highs levels in initial trades.
The 30-share Sensex closed over 100 points higher at 22,582 levels while 50-unit Nifty ended at 6,750 levels, up almost 28 points.
