Rice, wheat up on rising demand

Firm conditions prevailed on the wholesale grains market today as rice and other commodity prices rose up to Rs 100 per quintal on buying by stockists on pick up in demand.
Traders said fresh buying by stockists on pick up in demand from retailers mainly pushed up wholesale grain prices.
In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety rose by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,500-5,600 and Rs 4,300-5,300 per quintal, respectively.
Wheat dara (for mills) gained Rs 10 to Rs 1,200-1,205 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,190-1,195 per 90 kg.
Maida and sooji also moved up by Rs 10 and Rs 20 to Rs 750-780 and Rs 820-840 per 50 kg, respectively.

Bajra and maize too traded higher by Rs 30 each to Rs 930-940 and Rs 1,290-1,300 per quintal.
