Sensex at day's high, up 255pts

The Sensex has rallied to the day's high, now up 255 points at 8,416 on the back of fresh buying.

ICICI Bank has extended gains and now zoomed over 8% to Rs 285.

Maruti and Tata Motors have soared around 5.5% each to Rs 686 and Rs 144, respectively.

Sterlite has surg4ed over 5% to Rs 257. Hindustan Unilever, ITC and Reliance have gained around 4.5% each at Rs 227, Rs 165 and Rs 1,205, respectively.

Infosys has moved up 4% to Rs 1,245. Sun Pharma, TCS and BHEL have added around 3.5% each to Rs 1,016, Rs 479 and Rs 1,344, respectively.

 

Wipro, HDFC, Larsen & Toubro and Tata Steel are up around 3% each at Rs 212, Rs 1,294, Rs 579 and Rs 157, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has plunged over 4% to Rs 563. Tata Power has moved up 1.7% to Rs 612.

The market breadth is marginally positive - out of 2,297 stocks traded so far, 1,168 have advanced, 1,030 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
