Sensex down 200pts in early trades

The Sensex opened 33 points lower at 10,305, and has since drifted lower. The index is now down 198 points at 10,140.

Tata Motors has plunged 5% to Rs 181. Sterlite has shed 4.5% at Rs 282.

DLF, Jaiprakash Associates and HDFC have tumbled around 4% each to Rs 243, Rs 78 and Rs 1,820, respectively.

Reliance and Satyam have dropped around 3.5% each to Rs 1,387 and Rs 290, respectively. Reliance Communications has declined 3.3% to Rs 225.

ONGC has surged 3% to Rs 733.
