Sensex drops 37pts, ends above 10K; Cipla soars 8%

The Sensex opened almost flat at 10,084, but selling pressure in early trades owing to weak global markets saw the index slide to 9959 - down 123 points from its previous close.

Late buying in select stocks saw the Sensex stage a partial recovery, and finally close with a loss of 37 points at 10,045.
