Sensex extends losses, Nifty too declines

The Sensex has extended losses and is now down 101 points at 15,275. The index had earlier touched a low of 15,241.

The NSE Nifty has also dropped further and is now down 24 points at 4,548.

The Sensex today opened up with a marginal positive gap of 54 points at 15,429. The index touched a high of 15,454 but slipped into red to a low of 15,294, down 160 points from the day's high.

The index has recovered partially and is now down 19 points at 15,356.

ICICI Bank  and Hero Honda have dropped 2% each to Rs 741 and Rs 1,653, respectively.

 

HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel and Maruti Suzuki are also down around 1% each.

However, Tata Motors has gained 4% to Rs 391 on better-than-expected results. DLF and Tata Power have gained 2% each to Rs 422 and Rs 1,260, respectively.

NTPC is up 1% at Rs 217.

The NSE Nifty is now 15 points at 4,557. The index had opened flat at 4,573 but slipped to a low of 4,549.

Among the other Nifty stocks Axis Bank has dropped 1% to Rs 326. Idea Cellular is down 1.5% at Rs 79. However, BPCL has added 2% to Rs 460. Ambuja Cements and Power Grid Corporation are also up 1% each.
