Sensex up 122 pts; NTPC slips 3%

The Sensex opened 56 points higher at 14,322. The index rallied to a high of 14,465, and then pared gains and touched a low of 14,298. The index, however, has bounced back to higher levels and is now up 122 points at 14,387.
Tata Motors has surged 4% to Rs 342, and Larsen & Toubro has rallied 3.5% to Rs 1,464.
Jaiprakash Associates, Reliance Infrastructure and TCS have gained nearly 3% each at Rs 197 Rs 1,235 and Rs 390, respectively.
Tata Steel, Reliance Communications, BHEL and Infosys have moved up around 2.5% each.
NTPC has declined 3% to Rs 196.
ONGC and Tata Power have slipped 2% each to Rs 991 and Rs 1,152, respectively.
The market breadth is positive - out of 2,314 stocks traded, 1,230 have advanced, 1,010 have declined.
