Sensex up 145pts; HLL slips 1%

The Sensex is now up 145 points at 11,021.

Ranbaxy has soared over 5% to Rs 398. HDFC has rallied 3.5% to Rs 1,234.

HDFC Bank, Reliance Communications and Tata Motors have surged nearly 3% each to Rs 803, Rs 274 and Rs 780, respectively.

ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel and Maruti are the other major gainers.

HLL has slipped 1% to Rs 226.

Out of 2,500 stocks traded, 1,677 have advanced, 750 have declined and 73 are unchanged.
