Sensex up 165pts; Ranbaxy spurts 3%

The Sensex is now up 165 points at 11,478.

Hero Honda has surged 4.5% to Rs 712. HDFC Bank has advanced 3.5% to Rs 835.

Ranbaxy has gained 3% at Rs 405. Hindalco has added 2.6% to Rs 171.

Wipro, Satyam, Tata Motors, ONGC and SBI are up over 2% each to Rs 522, Rs 789, Rs 817, Rs 1,237 and Rs 889, respectively.

Out of 2,414 stocks traded so far, 1,830 have advanced, 531 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
