Sensex up 262pts; Satyam surges 4%

The Sensex is now up 262 points at 14,272.

Larsen & Toubro has surged 4% to Rs 1,679. Satyam has flared up 3.7% to Rs 482.

Gujarat Ambuja, Cipla and Maruti have rallied around 3.5% each to Rs 136, Rs 252 and Rs 887, respectively.

Hindalco, Infosys, Hero Honda and Bharti Airtel have advanced around 3% each to Rs 151, Rs 2,356, Rs 735 and Rs 783, respectively.

HLL, ICICI Bank, BHEL, Tata Motors, Wipro and Reliance Communications are the other major gainers.

Out of 2,578 stocks traded so far, 2,099 have advanced, 441 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
