Sensex up 34pts; Bharti Airtel slips 2%

The NSE Nifty is up seven points at 5,097.

Tata Steel has surged 2.7% to Rs 799. Jaiprakash Associates has rallied 2.5% to Rs 257.

Cipla, Ranbaxy and Hindalco have advanced 1.3% each to Rs 218, Rs 485 and Rs 189, respectively.

SBI and Wipro are up 1% each at Rs 1,754 and Rs 462, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has slipped 1.7% to Rs 912.
