Earlier in the day, the index opened up 15 points at 11,149. Soon it reached a high of 11,217. The Sensex thereafter slipped into the negative zone and touched a low of 11,070.
The Sensex has now rebounded and is 74 points higher at 11,209.
Jaiprakash Associates is firm at Rs 124. Bharti Airtel and Mahindra & Mahindra have gained 4% each at Rs 737 and Rs 460, respectively.
ACC, Reliance Communications and Tata Power have advanced 3% each to Rs 666, Rs 230 and Rs 878, respectively.
On the other hand, Wipro and Tata Power have shed 3% at Rs 304 and Rs 238, respectively.
Maruti Suzuki, Ranbaxy, Infosys, ONGC and Hindustan Unilever have declined 1-2% each.
The market breadth is fairly positive. Out of 2,356 stocks traded, 1,410 have advanced and 864 have declined.
