Sugar eases on weak demand

Sugar prices declined modestly at the Vashi Wholesale market here today on lower offtake from retailers amidst adequate stock positions.

Medium sugar quality (M-30) slipped by Rs 10 per quintal to Rs 2,906/2,981 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 2,916/2,981.

Small sugar quality (S-30) also moved down by a similar margin to finish at Rs 2,881/2,921 per quintal, as compared to Rs 2,881/2,931 last weekend.

The following are today's closing rates per quintal, with the previous rates in brackets: 

Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,881/2,921 (Rs 2,881/ 2,931) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,906/2,981 (Rs 2,916/2,981)
