Technology Stocks Slip

The market ended flat on Tuesday, as investors expressed doubts about the sustainability of the pre-budget rally.

After touching the 3,300-mark during intra-day trades, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensex declined from higher levels to settle with a modest gain of 6.64 points at 3,289.09.

Though expectations of an investor-friendly Union Budget for 2003-04 lifted the market in the morning, players said the undertone was cautious as the fears of an US-Iraq war still persist.

Meanwhile, at the National Stock Exchange, the S&P CNX Nifty index rose 1.10 points to close at 1,059.30.

There was some amount of profit-booking, especially in tech stocks, after Monday
