US markets rally on corporate earnings

US markets rallied on strong earnings report and a better jobless data. However, the markets closed off the day's high.

The Dow added 84 points (1%) to 9,154. The Nasdaq moved up 17 points to 1,984.

Indian ADRs were up on Thursday.

Patni Computers soared 20% to $14.9.  Sterlite rallied 5.5% to $13.25.

ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank gained 4% each to $31.06 and $96.15, respectively. Tata Communications and Tata Motors surged 3% each.

Infosys, Wipro, Mahindra Satyam, MTNL and Dr Reddy's moved up 1-2% each.
