The Sensex is now down 185 points at 13,507.
ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Wipro and Satyam have plunged over 3% each to Rs 582, Rs 786, Rs 360 and Rs 324, respectively.
Hindalco has shed 2.7% at Rs 106. TCS, SBI and Sterlite have dropped over 2% each to Rs 698, Rs 1,485 and Rs 478, respectively.
Rabbxy, NTPC and Reliance Infrastructure have also slipped around 2% each to Rs 305, Rs 175 and Rs 872, respectively.
DLF, Reliance, ONGC, Infosys and BHEL are down around 1.5% each.
Out of 2,411 stocks traded so far, 1,558 have declined, 776 have advanced and the rest were unchanged.
