3 GNLA militants killed in Assam

Three militants belonging to the banned organisation Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) were shot dead by security forces here on Thursday night in the Goalpara district of Assam.

According to reports, the police, working on a tip-off, stopped the militants, who were travelling on a motorcycle. On encountering the roadblock, the GNLA members attempted to escape by firing at the police, and in the ensuing skirmish, all three were killed.

Unconfirmed reports stated that a pistol and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
