Taking serious note of the alleged threats used by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Prahlad Gunjal against Kota Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr R N Yadav, Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chandra Kataria on Friday stated that his department will take action as per law against the errant legislator.
"The party president has given Gunjal notice and sought answers. My department will definitely take actions as per law. As he is a public representative, the case will go to the Crime Investigation Department (CID). He has been given time to reply," Kataria said told the media.
According to reports, Dr Yadav has registered a complaint of threat and intimidation against Gunjal. It is also understood that Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has sought a report on the incident.
Meanwhile, the opposition Congress on Friday criticized the alleged threats made by Gunjal, terming them as shameful.
"If the election representative is talking to people in such language then that is very shameful. . If the [public] representative will use such language then how will things work?" Congress leader Narendra Budhania told ANI.
Meanwhile, doctors in Jaipur suspended all work in protest to the treatment meted out to their colleague by Gunjal, calling for strict action to be taken against the legislator.
"Every official has some prestige attached to the position. Whatever has happened is very wrong. Action should be taken against that MLA," one of the protesting doctors said.
