Sri Lanka overcame an initial wobble to post a challenging target of 275 for India to chase in the second one-day international (ODI) in the five match series.

Angelo Matthews top scored for Sri Lanka with an unbeaten 92, with Dhammika Prasad giving him company at the middle with a quickfire 30 at tail end of the innings. However, the Lankans missed a good partnership in the middle, with the batsmen throwing away their wickets at regular intervals, eventually scoring 274-8 at the end of their allotted 50 overs.

The visitors lost opener Kusal Parera in the first over, with only four runs on the board. Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara added a few more runs after the former was bowled for 35. Thereafter, the Lankans lost wickets at regular intervals, with only Matthews's unbeaten knock the bright spot of their innings.

For India, Umesh Yadav, Ravichandra Ashwin and Akshar Patel all nabbed a brace of wickets each.
