Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has reportedly admitted that he has had a few regrets at his previous company but not too many to mention.

In his first public appearance after stepping down as the software giant's chief, Ballmer talked to students at the University of Oxford and reflected on Microsoft's missteps.

Ballmer said that the Microsoft might have had a strong position in the phone market ten years ago, but he regretted that the company didn't put hardware and software together quicker, Cnet reports.

However, he stressed that Microsoft remained in a strong position to catch the next wave of innovation.

He further offered students a piece of advice, saying that if one is going to really do something, then do it by heart, body and soul and really care, adding that one is either all in or all out.
