Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay visited Bodh Gaya and prayed at the Mahabodhi temple Saturday evening.
The Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC) gifted a sapling of the sacred Bodhi tree to Tobgay.
Tobgay had visited the Buddhist pilgrimage centre of Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh earlier on Friday.
The Bhutan prime minister is on a nine-day official visit to India at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation. He had also participated in 'Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit' in Gandhinagar last Sunday.
The visiting dignitary also held talks with Indian leaders before embarking on a visit to some historical places.
Bhutan was the first country Modi had chosen for his first foreign visit after assuming power and his focus was on enhancing developmental cooperation with the tiny Himalayan nation.
