The unforgettable 'Submarine' Lotus Espirit, which featured in James Bond flick 'The Spy Who Loved Me,' is up for sale, almost 40 years since it was built.

Max Girardo, managing director at RM Auctions, said that over the years, millions of filmgoers stared as the famous Lotus became a submarine, and now, perhaps one of them could own it, the Daily Express reported.

The white car had been developed from one of six Esprit body shells that were used in the making of the film, and instantly became much-loved with car lovers worldwide.

The car made by Perry Oceanographic to be built was the only car to built into a fully operational, self-propelled 'submarine.'

At the time, the car was said to have been made for 100,000 dollars to create.
