Zola Tongo, the taxi driver convicted in the case of murdered honeymoon bride Anni Dewani said on Tuesday that it was 'nonsense' that British businessman Shrien Dewani had given him a thank you card.

According to News24, Tongo told the the defence lawyer at the Western Cape High Court that Dewani only gave him an envelope of 1000 Rands.

Tongo said that he was angry at the time because Dewani had agreed to pay 5000 Rands for killing his wife Anni and he had been short-changed.

Dewani also owed him 1700 Rands for the trip that evening and a trip to a money exchange store, said Tongo.

Tongo is currently serving his 18-year sentence for his role in the murder of Anni Dewani, in an allegedly staged hijacking during their honeymoon in Cape Town in November 2010.
