The Delhi High Court on Wednesday pulled up newly elected Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) presidents and other candidates for not appearing before the court in the ongoing matter of defacement of property during DUSU election.

The high court strongly rebuffed the NSUI candidates Rocky Tuseed, who recently bagged the post of president in DUSU election.

Rocky is being prosecuted for pasting posters on the public properties and spoiling it.

The high court further asked DUSU and other candidates as to what steps they are taking to clean the property, which was defaced during DUSU election. "We don't want to take severe action but it can't go on," the high court observed.

The high court also said that it was a cognizable offence and also amount to jail term for 10 years. "It's unfortunate you people are taking it as joke. Defacement of property is violence against the city," the court added.
