Prime Minister Narendra Modi's demonetisation decision has hit the Indo-Bangladesh trade fair in Siliguri, Darjeeling.

The eight-day long trade fair, organized by Bangladesh Export bureau permitted-Wren Business globally, showcased mainly garments, electronics, food items, melamine, sarees and world famous Ilish fish.

However, the Bangladeshi traders were not happy with their business.

"Few customers are coming to this fair, but limited buying is being done. Last year, within the first three days we managed to earn good profit, but this time the condition of the business has become worst," said Ahsan Kabir, organiser of the fair.

However, Kabir further hailed the demonetisation move and said: "The decision which has been taken by the Prime Minister is appreciable. Bangladesh government should take this kind of decision to control the black money. The crisis is for short period of time."

A customer said that the quality of the products in the trade fair was good but he didn't have enough money to buy them.
