Expressing serious concern over the suicide committed by the parents of a seven-year-old child following his death due to dengue, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi Government for its insensitivity towards the dengue patients.

"It is due to the insensitivity along with the non-administrative experience of the Delhi Government that these cases are taking place in the state," Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay told ANI here.

"It is a very sensitive issue. There is negligence by the hospital authorities. The health department is under the state government and they should take a cognizance of it," he added.

Upadhyay pointed out that merely issuing a letter or showcause notice to the hospital refusing to admit the dengue patient won't solve the purpose.

"It is the duty of the state government to ensure that a dengue patient is fully treated," he added.

The parents of a seven-year-old boy, who died of dengue after allegedly being denied admission by two private hospitals here, committed suicide by jumping from a four-storey building in south Delhi.

The deceased were identified as Laxmichandra and Babita Rout, both natives of Odisha.
