The French parliament is going to vote on a new bill for imposing hefty fines for paid sex in the coming week.
Prostitution is legal in France, but the ruling Socialists party, with its majority in the parliament, is speculated to vote in favor of the bill on coming Wednesday, the BBC reports.
Only soliciting and pimping has been illegal in France till now, the report added.
According to the bill, those caught paying for sex would face an initial fine of 2,030 dollars.
Analysts said that this bill would crack down on prostitution and drive the sex trade underground in the country, which has up to 40,000 prostitutes.
