Gaikwad finally travels with Air India

ANI  |  New Delhi [India]

Days after grabbing all eyeballs for assaulting an staffer, the MP was on Thursday finally seen travelling in the business class of the aircraft after the ban imposed on him was lifted.

However, earlier today, the carrier had written a letter to the Police asking why there was a delay in taking any action against Gaikwad in its staffer assault case, AI sources said.

An FIR was registered in the matter, following the incident on March 23.

It was reported that the airline said that the morale of the employees was being impacted as no action was initiated against the MP despite nearly a month after the incident.

However, there was no official comment from or the Police.

Gaikwad is accused to have assaulted an staffer inside an aircraft at the airport on March 23. The carrier as well as other domestic airlines then barred him from taking their flights.

Earlier this month, the ban was revoked after the MP wrote a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju expressing regret over the incident.

In the aftermath of the incident, refusing to apologise to the Air India official whom he allegedly thrashed, Gaikwad said he would only tender an apology from the Parliament for disrespecting its dignity.

Asserting that it was a small conflict, Gaikwad said the staff of the airline was mad and around eight such cases of indulging into brawl have been registered against him.
