More than three months after being sworn in as the President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani has finally unveiled his unity cabinet.

The names of 25 ministers who will form the cabinet were announced at a ceremony in Kabul presided over by Ghani and government chief executive Abdullah Abdullah, reported the BBC.

The announcement followed a long and intense dialogue between the two former rivals who agreed to form a unity government post the disputed elections last year.

The cabinet is yet to be approved by the parliament.

Three women hold the portfolios of women's affairs, culture and higher education in Ghani's cabinet.

New heads for Afghanistan's National Bank and the NDS, Afghanistan's National Security Directorate, were also named at the ceremony.
