After a senior figure in the West Bank, claiming to speak for Hamas said that the militant outfit is ready to broker a truce with Israel to end the Gaza conflict, a Hamas commander rejected the claim saying that his soldiers are eager for death.
Mohammad Deif, commander of Hamas' military wing, made the statement in an audio recording that surfaced at the end of a destructive day in Gaza, reported the BBC.
Officials in Gaza said that the total number of Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes has climbed to 1,200 while 6,700 have been wounded. Most of those who have been killed were civilians.
Israel on the other hand, has lost 53 soldiers since it launched an offensive against Hamas on July 8.
