Imphal residents celebrate Rongali Bihu

The Asom Samaj Manipur organised the Rongali Bihu Celebration at Devlaya (Kalibari), Thangal Bazar, recently.

The celebration was attended by former the chairperson of the Manipur State Women Commission, Dr. Ch. Jamini Devi, Diganta Kumar Bora, the president of the Asom Samaj and Irom Gambhir Singh, a professor at Manipur University as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

As a part of the celebration a Bihu dance troop from Nagaon, Assam performed various Bihu dances and other folk and modern songs of Assam.

Rongali Bihu, one of the most important festivals of Assam which marks the onset of Assamese New Year.

 

The event was organized under the aegis of Rongali Bihu Celebration Committee, Assam Samaj Manipur.

Bihu is celebrated thrice a year.
