Japanese woman receives $130 'IOU' note as wedding gift

A Japanese woman recently received a red envelope containing an IOU note worth 130 dollars as a wedding gift.

Xiao Yu from Hangzhou, Zhejiang province received the gift from one of her five university roommates, the China Daily reported.

The note, which had best wishes for her happy married life written on it and the amount of money, which was described as an "advance payment" can be used for the note writer's wedding.

Yu said that her husband and she both think of it as a good gift.
