Car-making giant Maruti Suzuki on Saturday halted production in its Manesar and Gurgaon plants in Haryana due to the escalating agitation by Jats, which disrupted the supply of components to the company.
"Owing to the agitation in Rohtak and nearby areas, supplies of certain components have been disrupted. As a consequence, the Company has had to temporarily suspend manufacture of cars", Maruti said in a statement.

The company will resume operations once the supply of components is restored. The combined output from Manesar and Gurgaon is about 5,000 vehicles per day.
Meanwhile, the agitation by the Jat community entered its 7th day today where thousands of protesters were seen blocking major roads and railway tracks across the state, disrupting surface communication for a week.
