AIADMK supremo J. Jayalalithaa on Friday criticized the latest hike in prices of diesel and petrol and said the present NDA Government is following the same policies of the former UPA regime.
The former Tamil Nadu chief minister said the price of oil fuels were raised already since the beginning of this month.
"The fuel companies have given the same explanation as before. They blame it on international price hike and Indian rupee losing to US dollar. Summoning up the rupee's gain to US dollar is Centre's responsibility," said Jayalalithaa.
"Like I mentioned before, foreign investors have lost hope due to Center's taxation policies and its failing to implement disciplinary policies. This has had its reaction on our rupee slumping. The main reason being International Investors retreating with their portfolio capital," she added.
Jayalalithaa further said it is unacceptable for the oil companies to base the oil price on the rupee during such ups and downs.

"NDA is following the same policies of UPA and that has let to the rise of fuel price, twice a month which thereby causes instability to the economy," said Jayalalithaa.
"I urge once again to the Government to change its fuel price policies. This price hike would favour inflation, thereby, affecting the public. Hence, I ask the oil companies to take back this price hike. And like I've mentioned before, I wish the Government takes back the authority to determine petrol and diesel price from the oil companies," she added.
Petrol prices have been hiked by 3.13 per litre while diesel prices have been increased by Rs 2.71 per litre, effective midnight. This is the second straight hike in past two weeks.
