Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on Monday ordered an investigation into the alleged reconversion drive conducted by rightwing group the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) in the state.

The Home Minister's office has reportedly told Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) to investigate whether any laws were broken and whether people were forced into the conversion.

According to reports, the VHP conducted a 'Ghar Wapsi' campaign on Sunday at Cheppad in Alappuzha district of Kerala, in which eight Dalit Christian families were converted to Hinduism.
