Following the furore over an alleged firing incident along the India-Nepal border, Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Friday said that the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) acted with restraint, adding that the security force and the Uttar Pradesh administration are keeping an eye on the situation.
"The SSB acted with restraint, ensuring nothing untoward happens. We are keeping this in mind that nothing serious takes place in the Indian side and are ensuring the same on the other side. The Uttar Pradesh administration and the SSB are keeping an eye on the situation," said Rijiju.
Rijiju further added that the no step has been taken that can further damage the situation on the border.
The statement of Rijiju came after the reports of the death of a Nepali national yesterday at the India-Nepal border, allegedly in a firing incident.
The SSB initiated an enquiry on this matter and the Government of Nepal is being requested to share post-mortem and forensic reports to facilitate the process.
