Kiwi legend Martin Crowe brands 'exhaustion' Black Cap's biggest WC worry

ANI Wellington

New Zealand cricket legend Martin Crowe has tagged 'exhaustion' as the biggest worry for the nation's chances of finally grabbing a World Cup trophy at next month's tournament that they would co-host with Australia.

New Zealand will face Sri Lanka in the second clash of their seven-match ODI buildup series in Hamilton on Thursday. They would face Pakistan in two further one-dayers on the eve of the tournament before hitting the demanding schedule of the World Cup that starts with a February 14 clash with Sri Lanka.

Crowe is of the worry if New Zealand has taken on too much, and he sees that as their only worry in looking at their abilities to finally break the nation's World Cup duck and win the title, Stuff.co.nz reported.

In his column for Cricinfo, Crowe stated that the 11th World Cup is just around the corner, yet New Zealand has a further eight games to play before the squad marches out on February 14 to play the opening match against Sri Lanka.

Crowe revealed that normally that's more than a whole summer's worth, adding that to win the World Cup, New Zealand would need to play 17 one-day matches from here, which would be exhausting, insisting that this is his only concern as he assesses their chances.
