Militants associated with the Kuki National Front (KNF-N) have allegedly kidnapped four labourers from Manipur capital Imphal, and are now demanding a ransom of Rs.1 crore for their release.

The incident took place at the Singda Dam complex where the labourers were assigned to construct a road.

A neighbour of one of the kidnapped labourers, Lalson, said the victims were four brothers and lived close-by.

The labourers have been identified as Angom Patel, Sarengthem Ingo, Laishram Bijesh and Sorensangbam Anand Singh.

The family members of the abducted raised their concerns and asked the authorities to speed up the search activities. Personnel from Assam Rifles and Manipur police have launched a joint search operation in this regard.
