The lockdown at US Capitol Building in Washington, that lasted almost two hours after a gunman shot himself on the West Front, has been lifted.
According to Fox News, the police confirmed the shooting to be a case of suicide.
Officials ordered the precautionary lockdown after reporting the shooter had been "neutralized" and as police checked a suspicious package connected to the shooting.
It was later confirmed the shooter dies of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The bomb squad immediately checked out the suspicious package but found nothing of interest.
According to sources, there was no indication of terrorism.
