Low intensity earthquake hits Nicobar Islands

An earthquake of intensity 4.4 on the Richter scale hit the Nicobar group of islands on Sunday.

The Meteorological Department stated that the quake occurred at 5.08 pm. No damage or casualty was reported due to the seismic activity.

This was the second such tremor in the region after an earthquake of similar magnitude hit Nicobar on October 24.
