Maharashtra: History-sheeter Govind Rana shot dead by police

History-sheeter Govind Rana was killed in an encounter with police on Monday in Nalasopara area of Maharashtra's Palghar district.

According to police sources, Rana attacked a police personnel belonging to Vasai Crime Branch in Palghar district at 2:35 pm and was shot by the police in response.

Rana was later rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Two police personnel are also injured in the encounter and are currently being treated at a hospital in the area.

Rana had several cases against him in Nalasopara and other police stations of Palghar and Mumbai.
