A new study has examined that only nine per cent of parents admit to being pushy.

The nationwide online poll of 2,000 parents of children under 16, by price comparison site Confused.com, suggested that 12 per cent parents admitted that they like to have complete control over what their children do from after-school activities to their youngsters' chosen career path, the Daily Express reported.

According to the study, some six per cent of mums and dads admit that their offspring take part in certain pastimes to follow a dream they had when they were younger.

More than a third of parents admitted that they try to influence their children's decisions, and approximately eight per cent spend more than 200 pounds a month on a child's activities.
