Temperatures across India is expected to soar high in the coming week, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

IMD scientist Akhil Srivastava told ANI, "As far as heat is concerned, Bhuj town in Kutch district on Thursday recorded the highest maximum temperature of 45.8 degrees Celsius while Delhi is having temperature around 39 degrees. Temperature may rise or remain same in the next few days."

Talking about the factors responsible for increase in temperature in India, Srivastava informed it is not only the heat wave effect, adding it is at times due to high pressure area formation.

"So, basically there are always different factors responsible for rise in temperature," he added.

Heat waves typically set in across India during the period from April to June, before the cooling monsoon rains arrive. But the heat this year began a bit earlier than normal, with New Delhi recording it hottest March in seven years.
