Mukherjee expresses grief over loss of lives in Telangana train- bus mishap

President Pranab Mukherjee has condoled the loss of lives in accident in which a passenger train hit a school bus at an unmanned railway crossing in Telangana.

In his message to E.S.L. Narasimhan, Governor of Telangana, the President has said "I am extremely saddened to learn about the accident in which some school children lost their lives and many others are critically injured after a passenger train hit a school bus at an unmanned railway crossing in Telangana. I understand relief operations are underway."

"I am sure that the State Government and other agencies are taking necessary steps to provide urgent medical assistance to the injured and all possible aid to the bereaved families," he said.

 

"Please convey my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. I wish speedy recovery to the injured persons," he added.

At least 18 persons, including 16 children were feared killed when a school bus collided with a train near Masaipet village in Telangana's Medak District this morning.
