BlackBerry investors have been left in a lurch following Pentagon's statement that the government had reportedly not placed a massive order of 80,000 phones in order to save the company.
The Department of Defense confirmed that no new purchases have been made and the statement that mentioned 80,000 phones in a January 16 press release was made in reference to the already existing ones.
While the press seems to have misinterpreted the statement, it was mentioned in the January press release that the program also supported 80,000 BlackBerry phones, Cnet reported.
BlackBerry, however, benefitted from keeping mum about the faux pas, with the news boosting the company's stock remarkably.
