PM Modi leaves for Brazil to attend BRICS Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi left from Berlin to attend the 6th BRICS Summit in Brazil today.

Modi is being accompanied by a high level delegation, including Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman and National Security Adviser A.K. Doval among others.

In Brazil, Modi is scheduled to have bilateral dialogues with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the BRICS summit.

The summit will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday in the cities of Fortaleza and Brasilia, where the Prime Minister will be having a hectic schedule.

The Prime Minister arrived on Sunday at Berlin's Tegel Military Airport.

 

He was received by the Indian Ambassador to Germany and senior German officials.

The BRICS nations are expected to finalize the setting up of a development bank and seek reforms of the United Nations and international financial organizations.

This is Prime Minister Modi's first multilateral visit abroad.
