PM Modi pushes legal fraternity for more 'pro bono' work

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday appealed to the legal fraternity to come forward and take up more cases of poor and under privileged under 'pro bono'.

"Today at this platform I appeal to the legal fraternity to register themselves in the app that we have developed for pro bono and take up cases of poor and under privileged clients," said Prime Minister Modi while addressing lawyers at the inauguration of digital filing system of the Supreme Court.

Emphasizing the need to upgrade he said, "Only if information technology is combined with Indian talent we will move towards India tomorrow".

Talking about use of technology in governance he said, "It is imperative to use technology for effective governance. E-governance is easy, effective economical and environmental".

 

Prime Minister also stressed that the technology has enhanced the justice system be it accidents, murders etc.

Earlier, speaking on the occasion Chief Justice J S Khehar said the Prime Minister has been stressing on technology in judicial system and added that Integrated Case Management System is the biggest and highest leap in judicial system.

Prime Minister today inaugurated the digital filing system of the Supreme Court which will mark the movement towards a paperless apex court. He congratulated the Supreme Court for the new initiative.
