Police arrest Maoist in Jharkhand's Palamu District

Acting on a tip off, Jharkhand Police have confirmed the arrest of a hardcore Maoist and also recovered a country made pistol, four cartridges, a motorcycle and a mobile phone from him.

The arrested Maoist has been identified as Ajay Prasad alias Roshan, the Zonal Commander of Maoist outfit Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC).

Superintendent of Police, Palamu, Mayur Patel, said that the district police dispatched a team acted to nab Prasad.

"We had received information about this man, known as Ajay Prasad Sahu alias Roshan who is also the Zonal Commander of TPC, coming on a motorcycle. Based on that information, a team of policemen was dispatched to nab him and he was arrested," said Patel.

 

Prasad is wanted in 10 cases of ransom, kidnapping and murder across Latehar, Garhwa and Palamu districts of Jharkhand.

Patel added that Prasad was also involved in extortion activities of TPC-2.

"We have recovered a country made pistol, a motorcycle and ammunition from him. He was running the outfit called TPC-2 and was involved in extorting money," said Patel.

Patel said he could be involved in other cases too, however, the police are yet to ascertain that.
